KLM is the world's oldest airline still flying under its original name. Its Amsterdam hub is one of the easiest places in Europe to change planes — which is why so many U.S. travellers use it.
Schiphol is built as a single terminal, so every connection is a walk — no trains, no buses, no changing buildings. It is one of the main reasons people choose KLM.
The airport is also 15 minutes by train from central Amsterdam, which makes a long layover worth using.
Fares are indicative one-way economy prices and change with dates and availability. Click a route for live prices.
KLM does not try to dazzle. Crews are informal and helpful, the app is one of the best in the business, and the airline answers customers on social media around the clock.
Do not confuse Economy Comfort with Premium Comfort. The first is an Economy seat with more legroom; the second is a separate cabin with a different seat and service.
KLM shares Flying Blue with Air France. Miles are easy to collect — most major U.S. bank points transfer in — and monthly Promo Rewards discount award flights on selected routes. Status is earned with XP, based on distance and cabin.
Status requirements are set by Flying Blue and can change.

KLM weighs cabin baggage as a combined total. Economy Light fares have no checked bag — add one when booking rather than at the airport.
Light has no checked bag. With luggage, Standard is nearly always the cheaper total.
Many KLM routes are also sold by Delta. The same seat can cost less under the other flight number.
With four hours or more, central Amsterdam is a 15-minute train ride from the terminal.
Out with KLM and back with Air France often prices as a normal return.
KLM regularly offers paid upgrades to Premium Comfort or Business before departure, often at a discount.
